Hearing Creates Connection — Ervin’s Story

Hearing Creates Connection — Ervin’s Story
Ervin's Story

Hearing loss can be isolating in ways that those with full hearing ability can’t understand. It can make it difficult to participate in community events, independently manage your personal life, and even to connect with loved ones.

For Ervin, a recent patient at GiveHear, this was exactly the case.

After a year of feeling isolated from loved ones due to Covid-19, Ervin still wasn’t able to connect with the person he loved the most simply because he couldn’t hear her.

“I haven’t had a [normal] conversation with my wife in years,” said Ervin.

While Ervin is regularly able to see his wife, she is soft spoken and he isn’t able to hear what she is saying.

After being fitted with a new hearing aid in the clinic, he shared that he was most excited to go home and talk to his wife for the first time in years.

GiveHear is glad to play a small role in brightening Ervin’s day so that he can continue to brighten the lives of others.

“I can’t stand to see anyone unhappy,” he said while joking around with GiveHear staff.

Without assistance from GiveHear, Ervin may never have had the chance to enjoy another meaningful conversation with his wife and other loved ones.

GiveHear is delighted to play a small part in Ervin’s story. But, there are hundreds more who like him, are experiencing hearing loss with limited means to access hearing care. Will you join us in our fight to ensure everyone has access to hearing healthcare in our community?
